Scaling WordPress Instantly with Readyset QueryPilot

Last month we launched Readyset QueryPilot, our zero-touch automatic caching solution, in beta for MySQL and early results are in.

In a recent test on WordPress, QueryPilot instantly scaled database performance impressively without a single code change, delivering:

• ~60% higher throughput: requests per second increased from 25.6 → 41.4
• ~38% lower latency: average request time dropped from 39 ms → 24 ms

QueryPilot automatically analyzes live traffic, identifies expensive queries, and caches them, boosting performance for both modern apps and legacy systems.

Readyset Core

• More Expressive SQL: Readyset now supports Window Functions including ROW_NUMBER, RANK, DENSE_RANK, SUM, and more; enabling richer analytics and more powerful queries, especially for reporting workloads.
• Smarter Subqueries: We've added support for LATERALsubqueries, unlocking complex joins where subqueries depend on values from preceding rows. This expands the range of queries Readyset can accelerate, especially in OLAP and nested query scenarios.
• Fewer Connection Surprises: MySQL replication now includes heartbeat support to detect stale or half-closed connections and automatically reconnect. That means better uptime and less manual recovery during flaky network conditions.
• Dialect-Aware Ordering: Readyset now supports explicit ORDER BY … NULLS {FIRST|LAST} syntax and respects the SQL dialect when choosing default null ordering. This ensures consistent behavior across systems and improves compatibility with customer queries.
• Dynamic Log Control: You can now adjust log levels on the fly using a SQL statement or HTTP endpoint. It’s perfect for fine-tuning visibility in production without restarts.
